Hentai Game Review: Lv1勇者が女神・邪神と♀モンスター繁殖計画始めました! (Lv1 Yushe Breeding Program)

Okay, I’m not really sure what the best translated version of that title is.  I’ve gone with Lv1 Yushe Breeding Program, although the full title is something like Lv1 brave man began a ♀ monster breeding plan with a goddess and an evil deity!  I suspect someone will pin a snappy English fan name on it that will stick.  It’s a monster girl hentai game and it might be the most bonkers one I’ve played so far.

The trial (big yellow button) has to be played to be believed.

In generic fantasy-world-land the numbers of monster girls are declining.  They’re waiting for the hero fated to save them with his magic cum, or something like that.  The hero is born but his father really wanted a daughter and decides to raise him as one anyway.

Uh, okay.

The hero(ine?) leaves on some adventure or other and gets waylaid outside the first village by the head of the ‘good’ and ‘evil’ monster girls.  These are an angel/dragon thing and a succubus/centaur thing respectively.  They’ve teamed up to solve the declining monster girl population problem by finding the hero and forcing him to mate with monster girls all across the world.  The first H-scenes give a good indication of what the hero and player...

This isn't going to go well...
...are in for.

...ngn!!!!!
Ouch.

First stop is a forest inhabited by slime girls.  The hero and a cute slime girl are a bit clueless as to what to do next, so the succubus/centaur girl turns the hero into a raging sex bull monster with a two-foot penis to force the issue.

Uh, okay.

At this point I’m wondering what the main game mechanics are as sex combat has largely been on autopilot so far.  Then follows a sort of mini-game quest sequence where the hero picks a path and has to navigate traps, treasure chests and other monster encounters.  Then it’s off to the next location—some kind of shrine with a temple dog woman with enormous jugs, a girl with a giant mouth coming out of the back of her head and a talking cat.  There are also lots of cat girls.  Which sets up the next mini-game where the hero has to touch parts (guess which!) of a cat girl’s body in the right order.

One of the quest mini-games.
Then they all head off on a quest to find Yggdrasil, the world tree (and frequent canon immigrant from Norse mythology to JRPGs).  During this the hero manages to fall off a cliff.  The others throw the cat after him and both have to find their way through a forest maze while chased by a giant lusty minotaur woman.

And this is just in the trial.  The makers deserve a lot of credit for making so much of the game available to sample.  It’s worth downloading as there’s probably a couple of hours worth of material there.  I think in this case they had to in order to get an idea of what the game is about.

The game is part visual novel and part collection of varying mini-games.  Combat crops up regularly, but largely runs without any input from the player.  The quest locations, where the hero follows a branching route, also appear frequently.  Other main mechanics include the monster girl villages.  Once the player unlocks these the goal is increase the number of inhabitants.  To do this they have to replenish their... um... magical cum, which happens whenever they complete a quest branch or certain story events.  As the population of the village increases it unlocks H-scenes and further story paths for that village.

Oddly, it works.  The artwork and overall production is gorgeous.  It matches up well with the H-scenes of Violated Hero 2 in terms of quality.  They’re not shy of aiming for an epic feel and proper story either, despite being a sex game.  This is the moment you find Yggdrasil at the end of the trial.

The protagonist is down on the bottom-left.  They have a cat on top of their head.  Don't ask.

On top of that nearly everything features voice work.  The story and characters have plenty of humour as well, although I probably missed a lot of it through reliance on crude auto-translation.  I had to switch to ITH for the text-hooking on this one as AGTH was struggling, although I’ve been told this code fixes things for AGTH: /HA-C@FC4C8.

The one downside is I didn’t find the game that sexy.  It’s a little too weird.  More like a gross-out sex comedy than a hot porn film, if that makes any sense.  Quite a few of the Bad Ends are straight-up ‘bad’ Bad Ends such as being torn apart and eaten by harpies, or the hero being trapped in a wall of meat while someone shoves a cock down their throat, rather than the ‘good’ Bad Ends more typical to games like Violated Hero or Monster Girl Quest.  In the end it didn’t matter that much as I was having so much fun wondering what crazy shit the game was going to do next.

Worth a look and the trial is extensive enough to give players a good idea of whether the game is for them or not.

Eihi Shiina Double Bill, Part Two: Tokyo Gore Police

If you thought the manga/anime coming out of Japan was crazy...

Tokyo Gore Police. To use the cliché: it's exactly what it says on the tin.

The film is directed by legendary gore-fx master, Yoshihiro Nishimura, and, exactly as the name suggests, is incredibly gory. This is gore taken up to eleven. People grow chainsaws and cannons out of their open wounds, there's a duel featuring a quadruple amputee with blades on each stump, a girl with crocodile jaws in place of her nether regions, and gallons and gallons of fake blood. At one point a character even uses the blood spraying from his severed legs as a jet pack. It's that crazy.

It's what I love about Japanese films. They aren't afraid to leap out of the box and take off in weird directions to shock and surprise the audience. Sure, some might think the whole thing comes across as silly and nonsensical, but who cares when it's an excuse to come up with scenes of such audacious bizarreness they leave the viewer's jaw on the floor at the whole 'WTF' of it all.

Oh, and Eihi Shiina is lovely and serene throughout.

Once again, I realise I have much further to go.

More fun with Japanese translations...

I’m quite impressed with this automated machine translation malarkey. I mentioned it last week when I talked about a Japanese game coming out that looked like fun. A quick poke around the http://mon110.sakura.ne.jp website reveals they’ve (I think it’s the same people, but I may be wrong) also done a series of audio plays. The name of the series auto-translates to “Whispers of human habitation Rina - Tengai - Slutty girl and inhuman treatment”, which is probably wrong as that sounds horribly unwieldy.

If you like my stories, then you’ll probably enjoy these audios as they feature being captured and then pleasurably...um...drained by various femdom-y succubi and monster girls. For those that like that kind of thing, they even provide some alternative endings with a more vorish bent. Mostly it’s lots of shlurp shlurp (with a variety of squelchy sound effects that sound like a brush being plunged back and forth into a pot of paste) until the victim ejaculates themselves to death (or exhaustion). My faves are probably Vol.7 with the Arachne and Vol.10 with the big-titted Succubus Lilia (Lily I presume).

They are in Japanese, which normally would be a substantial hurdle if, like me, you can’t speak a word of the language. Thankfully, they also provide transcripts of the audios. These are also in Japanese, but with handy use of Ctrl+C and Translation Aggregator, voila, English words fall out. Again, it’s automated machine translation, so the usual caveats about using common-sense and imagination to make sense of the translations apply. Mapping the transcripts to the voices is a little tricky, but I found it got easier once I started recognising the “fufufus” and the “ora oras”. After that it’s a case of lying back and enjoying their work. The corrupted little story-making cells in my brain have certainly been twitching with fresh inspiration.

If they are the same people, I think it’s a pity they aren’t planning to include voice work in the forthcoming game. Some of these scenarios rendered as a game would be a lot of fun I think.

There is some hentai artwork of varying quality included with the volumes. Some of the victims border a little too close to shotacon for my tastes, but that’s often par for the course with these things. Oi, artists! Real succubi can take down real men y’know! It’s only pixels in case anyone’s feeling too outraged. Me, I’m just here for the freaky monster girls with big boobies.

Well worth a listen if you fancy being teased and taunted by a Japanese energy-sapping succubus. My Japanese vocabulary has increased, albeit with words I suspect I must never ever utter in public! ;)

A game release I'm looking forward to

This game at http://mon110.sakura.ne.jp looks like fun. It’s a Japanese RPG. You play a brave lad who picks up his sword and heads out into the world looking for adventure...and ends up being, um, molested by various sexy monster girls.

There’s a demo up which features a bit of introduction and a fight (sort of) with a slime girl. It looks a bit like Succubus Quest, only with more elaborate ending sequences when you lose the fight (which is the fun part let’s face it).

Yes, it is in Japanese, but I managed to hook it up to some automated translation software. Which sounds rather complicated, but thankfully a very nice person up on hongfire.com has posted a comprehensive guide on how to set this up. The translations are far from perfect, as you’d expect from automated machine translation, but if you use your imagination they’re good enough to follow what’s going on.

The first part of the game is scheduled for around January/February. They boast of featuring nearly 200 types of monster girl in the finished game, some of which look very weird indeed judging from the side menu. That sounds awesome, but also a little worrying. 200 seems like a heck of a lot of work. If the rest of the encounters are as detailed as the one with the slime girl in the demo, the game would still be awesome even with only 20 types. I’d rather see a completed game with fewer enemies than a too-ambitious project doomed to an eternity in development limbo.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to its release when I can go forth and engage in unmentionable sexual acts with...ahem...save the world from dastardly demon girls.

Censorshit in Japan?

I was sad to read this article on Japan passing restrictions on the sale of manga and anime. I've been a fan of both for some time. I love them for their 'anything goes' ethos. The stories always felt more vibrant and alive because nothing was ever out of bounds. The plots are weird, often incomprehensible, but this makes them a better reflection of the often chaotic real world we live in.

To see what I mean, ditch the Disney (okay, you can keep the Pixar) this Christmas and show the kids Princess Mononoke instead. 'Goodies' and 'Baddies'? Um, it's a little more complex than that.

Okay, something like Princess Mononoke is hardly going to fall foul of the new restrictions, but they're still blocking off potential avenues and roads a story can run down. Block enough of them and all you're left with is following that same dull highway every damn time.
